"Summer"

"Summer" is one of four watercolors Winifred painted to depict the four seasons. The Artist grew up on the island of Formosa (Taiwan) where White Herons arrive in large flocks each summer. The herons nested in grooves of bamboo, and feasted on small fish in the rice patties. One of Winifred’s most vivid memories is that of a heron casually perched on the back of a complacent water buffalo.
